6412 Remote Control
The Silver remote control for the dct6412 features
lots of new & never used before programming methods & coding.

The remote controls that are supplied by most
cable operators with the Motorola DCT series of STB's are manufactured by
Universal Electronics, Inc (UEI). Previous models (Black remotes) could be
custom programmed via the 6-pin connection on the back of the remote called JP1.
Even though the JP1 connector exists on the Silver Remotes it uses a different
storage method which isn't compatible with the older interface. The new
connector is called JP1.1.

Programming
UEI Remotes work on two Levels of programming,
Codes & Protocols. Codes are the codes we are used to, these codes allow you to
program different devices by different manufactures into the remote so all of
your equipment can be controlled by the one remote. For example the Code for a
Sony TV is 0000.
Protocols are the level below Codes, which are the
actually the "codes" for each individual button under the programming code. For
the most part Protocols aren't necessary, but as equipment gets more
sophisticated as well users setups, the protocols allow to make the remote
control experience a little easier. Click here for
the Advanced Coding process of
programming protocols into the Silver Remote control supplied by most cable
providers.....
The supplied "universal remote control" can be
programmed with codes for 3 devices Cable, TV, AUX. AUX can be used for VCR, DVD
or Audio devices. They are programmed using a 4 digit number.
The remote control should come with paperwork that
has standard programming codes. If you do not have this paperwork you can obtain
the codes from the link below:

are the same (and even most of the programming instructions. Here are the
