Programming
If you would like to see what programming is
offered on your local cable providers system you can visit your local Cable
providers website, or visit one of these sites which you can use to see all of
the programming that would be available in your area:
TitanTV.com
HDTVgalaxy.com
These sites list, usually on a day-to-day
basis, that particular days’ HD broadcasts.
Why doesn't
the local cable provider offer all of the available HD channels on their channel
line-up?
The local cable providers are
required to ask permission of the broadcasters to send their channel out on the
cable system. This "permission" is usually put into a contract. These contracts
usually state some generic rules of conduct, like - the cable company must be
able to receive & send the data at its full bit rate over the cable system,
blah, blah, blah.....Also if your local feeds are independently owned &
operated, this may delay (or speed up in rare cases) the process of getting new
channels onto your line-up.
Another aspect that must be
factored into this mess is bandwidth. Right now the bandwidth available on most
cable systems is becoming limited, so unless there is extremely high demand for
a HDTV channel, expect it may be awhile before it is added.
