Symptoms of Winsock errors are:

Win95, 98, ME - PC is pulling a valid IP address from the network but not surfing the web.....Browser displays a "DNS error"

Win2000, NT, XP - When trying to renew the IP address (ipconfig /renew) the PC responds with an error similar to this:

"An error occured while trying to renew adapter - cannot renew something that is not a socket" or something like this.

No Problems can be caused by running this utility.

This fixes speed issues related to an entry in the registry that controls incoming and outgoing packets. This is normally seen in older OS's (win98, 95) or newer OS's that were upgrades from the older ones (98 to ME, XP, ect.). But this can fix speed issues on any OS that has the "Receive Window" Set too low.

No Problems can be caused by running this utility. As long as the directions are followed above.
